The best time or season to visit the Ruinsara Lake trek is the months of April to June and September to November. 

How to Reach?

Day 1: Dehradun to Tons

Arrive at Haridwar by the morning flight landing at 800 hrs. Alternatively, you’ll fly into the Jolly Grant Airport a day earlier. Board waiting vehicles are to be drive for six hours to reach Aquaterra’s Camp Bagi in the secluded Tons Valley.

Day 2: Tons to Taluka to Bheduka to Khappu Thach

Early morning breakfast and leave camp by 7 am. Drive 2 hours to succeed at the starting point of our trek. Trek to the village of Taluka. From here, the trail descends to the river valley and continues through the forest on the true side of the valley. In spring, there are many Gujars (pastoralists with buffalo herds) camping as they make their way to the higher pastures. We climb passing the village of Datmir to its nibbling grounds at Khappu Thach.

Day 3: Khappu Thach to Dev Thach

An Ideal Winter Trek to Dev Thach, an outsized alpine meadow. The trail continues passing through the forest and reaching the village of Osla, which appears on the opposite side of the valley. Most trails do not divert to Osla. Instead, it leads through a row of tea shops and a forest building known as Seema (2500m). From here it’s an hour’s walk up to the gorgeous meadow.

Day 4: Dev Thach to Ruinsara Tal

The trail passes through combined forest and meadows of buttercups and forget-me-nots. Half of the way to the lake, the valley broadens and crosses a series of meadows full of flowers where shepherds from the nearby villages nibble their flocks in summer. Ruinsara Lake is taken into account as sacred by the surrounding villages. It’s above the main valley floor on the true side, surrounded by alpine pastures and low rhododendrons beneath the impressive Swargarohini Range Camp. We camp ten mins from the lake.

First aid, medical kits, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, Walkie-Talkie, etc. are going to be available at the campsite.

Accommodation – Ruinsara Tal Trek

Stay is included from Day 1 to Judgment Day. Tents/Homestays/lodges are going to be provided. Triple sharing Accommodation and separate accommodation for girls/ladies are going to be provided. 

Meals – Ruinsara Tal Trek

All meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast eventually are included. Veg food is going to be provided during the trek.

Permits/ Forest fees

Trekking permits and forest passes would be arranged.

Experienced Trek Leader & Team

Qualified trek leaders having basic/advanced mountaineering courses certificates/ degrees will assist in the trek to kheerganga. Other staff includes qualified cooks, helpers, and porters.

Exclusions – Ruinsara Tal Trek

  • Food during migration to and from the bottom camp
  • Food wouldn’t be provided during transit and trekkers have to bear the cost on their own.
  • Mule and Porter charges
  • Generally, we expect trekkers to hold their bag-pack and luggage themselves. Those that wish to use Mule/Porter need to pay Rs 350 per day for the same.

  • People affected by Bronchitis, Asthma, TB, Epilepsy (got faints), and High vital signs or higher BMI are not allowed on the trek 
  • Children Below 8 years aren’t allowed.

Located at the foot of Swargarohini Peak, Ruinsara Tal may be a blessed lake unlike any other. This trek route has excellent beauty all around, with dense woods surrounding it from all sides. The sweetness of the woods will show you how nature preserves the holiest spots with her lash meadows and deodars.
